Welcome to my new website

Many of us over 60 are counted out when part-time jobs come up despite our collective wisdom and abilities.

To counter some of this prejudice I have dispensed with sending my CV and have instead created The Complete Picture, an animated ninety second overview of my life to date @ https://vimeo.com/223960456.

A Mobile Thought for the Day 31.03.11

You are here: Home / Internet Stuff / Internet Stuff / A Mobile Thought for the Day 31.03.11

31 Mar 2011
It is hard to believe that ten years ago Motorola and Nokia ruled the mobile world. Today, it is China Mobile and Vodafone. Indeed, though China Mobile has been slow to move outside her domestic market there are signs that she is ready. Maybe like Tokyo's DoCoMo, she will seek partners in India.

Meanwhile at a lower level, relatively new entrants Apple and Google spar over the iPhone and Android operating systems. Microsoft must be pondering a bid for Nokia now that it has sold its own operating system to them.

In the middle sits RIM (Blackberry) from Waterloo, Ontario.

Blackberry was the choice of the business community but slowly they are being lulled by the smart phones of Apple and Samsung. Then, the "Pads" or "Tablets" have also changed the game in less than a year. Will Amazon's Kindle be tempted to include a mobile phone?

The "Pad" war begins in earnest with RIM's due to launch on 19th April, 2011.

My guess is that RIM, Motorola or Microsoft will bid for Nokia by year end.
