Google TV - what will it do? 12.11.10

First Apple upgraded its Apple TV service though it has had few takers and it will now be challenged by Google TV which launches shortly in America.

Google TV will have two different boxes on offer and will give the viewer the chance to search the Net whilst watching television. It is thought unlikely that you will be able to click on a television show and check what an actor or a football star is wearing and buy that product online whilst watching......but it cannot be far away. Oracle demonstrated this 15 years ago but the technology hasn't been ramped up since. Maybe now it will.

Google search will enable you to bring up past programmes, information on them, record forward shows et al much as you can with the Sky box or the abler.

Google may produce a daily or weekly search league table for both programmes watched and adverts accessed....that would put the cat amongst the pigeons. We'll just have to see but clearly they have that technology already. 

GoogleTV may launch in the Spring in Europe.  

Until the box is built into the television set, you may be reluctant to add yet another box to your repertoire......... Google's zapper pad will be built into any mobile with an android system so that may stop us all in our tracks if we have a Nokia or iPhone..........I suspect they'll create a ubiquitous App for it in due course.
