Welcome to my new website

Many of us over 60 are counted out when part-time jobs come up despite our collective wisdom and abilities.

To counter some of this prejudice I have dispensed with sending my CV and have instead created The Complete Picture, an animated ninety second overview of my life to date @ https://vimeo.com/223960456.

Has Nokia finally woken up? 14.09.10

Henry Ford said that the only lesson we learn from History is that we never learn from History............

Motorola once the giants of the mobile industry had over 80% of the global market a decade or so ago; they had found it hard to relax the founding family's control of the company.

Known as the Galvin Manufacturing Company from 1928 till 1947 - when it was renamed Motorola - it was founded by Paul and Robert Galvin. Paul ran the company until his own son Robert took over in 1956 and then his son, Christopher succeeded him in 1999. The company lost its direction and Christopher was forcibly replaced by the first non-Galvin CEO in 2003.

I mention all this because reading about Nokia's woes over the past three years reminded so much of the Motorola story. Nokia has just brought in its first non-Finnish CEO, Stephen Elop from Microsoft and some its board clearly are unhappy at this profound change with Anssi Vanjoki resigning yesterday.
