Sir
Please don't ask primary school teachers to solve the crisis in sport for our
children (Leader: Sport & Education/6th August 2012). They have enough on their plates.
The last Government wasted over £1billion trying to impose a sports system on
our secondary schools which largely failed.
We have thousands and thousands of vibrant sports organisations in all our
communities. They are our sports clubs which do a stunningly good job largely
outside state aid. Bring them in. Ask their coaches to become full time and give
them a set number of primary and secondary schools to look after. This will take
some investment but it will develop more community facilities and a proper
professional group of coaches.
It's called win, win, win.
Yours etc
