I was up at 0430 this morning and on my way to Oxford today to be a privileged guest at the Iffley Road track where Roger Bannister was to light the Olympic torch.
On my way up the M40 there were dozens of workers painting the Olympic lanes ready for 2012 in just 17 days
I arrived at just after six and had a cup of tea and then met Brough Scott, Jack Rowell, Simon Halliday, Sally Jones, Seb Coe and John Curry (AELTC).
Sir Roger Bannister lit the torch and told us how he used the flag on the local church to see which way the wind blowing when in 1954 he ran the first sub four minute mile (3.59.4).
It was a very emotional breakfast.....
