I had a great day at Twickenham yesterday. Andrew Bibby and John Webster joined me in the ERIC Clubhouse inside the West Stand. We all played for Oxford in the Centenary Varsity match in 1981 when Tony Abbott, now the PM in Oz, was on the bench.
The clubhouse was heaving with ex-internationals and though we lost we all agreed it had been a compelling game. England aside from their wingers and full backs have no pace or guile at 9,10,12 and 13 and they need a hooker who can throw the ball in straight. The All Blacks deserved their victory but were pushed all the way especially by our tight five and back row. The ref had a good game too.
