All this year there have been a number of events to celebrate Vincent's 150th Anniversary. Last night it was a cocktail party in The Parks.
I drove up and parked at Catz as I was staying over - alumni can rent rooms - and I decided to walk from college via a back path which takes you over two tributaries of the Thames. Punters were out punting, kids (students) were playing croquet whilst others were pretending they were Nadal or Federer on the grass courts.
It was if nothing had changed since I had last walked through 32 years ago - I used to walk to Norham Gardens for my lectures.
Except as I ventured towards the main cricket square there was a discernible hum which became louder and louder as I close in. It was hardly surprising as over 600 guests were busy drinking cocktails and trying to remember names and look for old friends. I found Hugo MacNeill the former Irish and British Lions full back who I had tempted to Oxford back in 1983....
I don't recall much else.......
