RWC 2015 Draw
The first rugby world cup was in 1987 in NZ, the second in the UK, Ireland & France (final at Twickenham), the third in South Africa, the fourth in the UK, Ireland and France (final in Cardiff), the fifth in Oz, the sixth in France and the seventh in NZ.
Home sides have made the final in 1987, 1991 (England), 1995, 1999 (France), 2003 and 2011.
Home sides have won the cup in 1987, 1995 and 2011.
So far all finals have been between a northern hemisphere country and their southern hemisphere counterparts except in 1995 when SA beat NZ. It was the Springboks first appearance in a world cup.
The draw made yesterday was kind to NZ, France and South Africa and unkind to Australia, Wales and England.
Pool A: Oz, Eng, Wales, plus 2
Pool B: SA, Samoa, Scotland plus 2
Pool C: NZ, Argentina, Tonga plus 2
Pool D: France, Ireland, Italy plus 2
Winner A (Oz) will play Runner Up B (Samoa)
Winner D (Fr) v Runner Up C (Argentina)
Winners of these two groups play each other in Semi finals
Oz v France
Winner B (SA) v Runner Up A (Eng)
Winner C (NZ) v Runner Up D (Ire)
Winners of these two groups play each other in the semis
Eng v NZ
Final: Who knows but it might be France v NZ
It is such a shame that there isn't a rugby world cup for tier 2 countries and below.
