Welcome to my new website

Many of us over 60 are counted out when part-time jobs come up despite our collective wisdom and abilities.

To counter some of this prejudice I have dispensed with sending my CV and have instead created The Complete Picture, an animated ninety second overview of my life to date @ https://vimeo.com/223960456.

The future of my web site

I have had four iterations of this web site stretching back to 1998.......

When I was an MP (1997-2010) my site especially in the period 2005-2010 attracted over 20,000 weekly unique readers which was going some and it helped me win three national awards.

Now I am no longer an MP extraordinarily hardly anyone comes to this site; my numbers vary but not by much between 1200 to 2000 a week. Given I am slow to update even these numbers are surprising!

Part of the reason I am struggling to update it more regularly is that I have moved across to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, What's App and LinkedIn where I am updating throughout the day....

So, with Andy Hudson's help - he's the star really as he has designed the last twero sites for me (and really should have had my awards!) - we are going to simplify the design and make it more a deposit of things I do.

Things  I do currently are:

Chair, Royal Trinity Hospice until 30th June 2017 when I stand down after six and a half years

Chair, Foundation for Information Society Policy (FISP) since December 2016

Chair, Major Stanley's Trust which is shortly to be closed following the sale and lease back of the property for which we have been the custodians

So clearly in the search for new chair positions!!

But I am still doing stuff:

NED at Zone Investing (since 2014)

Trustee at BookTrust

Editorial Consultant, Atlantic Books

Feature writer at Chelsea-Kensington-Westminster TODAY monthly newspaper

I am trying to launch a Brain Trauma Charity and a Digital World Foundation......so not exactly twiddling my thumbs.....

And for good measure I am studying for a part-time Master's degree at King's in International Relations which has been huge fun and harder than I thought!
