Cheltenham and then Woolhope and Putley
It was a lovely sunny day yesterday so we travelled in hope that we would be able to see some cricket at Cheltenham College but on arrival we were told the outfield was too wet and play would start at the earliest after lunch. AS rain was due after lunch we hunched that we wouldn't see any cricket at all and legged it to Woolhope and then Putley in Herefordshire to meet up with more friends.
We lunched at delightful Crown Inn at Woolhope before moving on to the cider orchards at Once Upon A Tree in Putley. I knew Norman, the owner, but until we met at a wedding in Quito last year we hadn't shared a pint since our time at St Luke's College, Exeter back in the late 1960s. I tried to resist buying all his own apple and pear juices and a collection of ciders and chutneys.
I drove back to London in torrential rain; an inch of it fell in less than an hour. Don't they know our reservoirs are now full?
