Last Thursday, I flew to Durham, North Carolina to support my son's application for a MMS course at Duke University. We left LHR at 1100 and arrived at 1430, drove quickly to Durham where Duke is situated, showered and then set off for Raleigh for a Bruce Springsteen concert. We were actually quite amazed we could find tickets so late and even on the night there were still a few empty seats left......
I had last heard the Boss at a 4th July concert at Wembley in 1984 - ouch.
We were not disappointed. He sang and performed for close to two hours and then rocked for a further 50 minutes in what was a somewhat longer encore than I had been used to. Jessica, Springsteen's daughter, was graduating at Duke and right at the end he danced with her on the stage so all in all there was quite a family feel to the evening given Patti Scialfa, his wife, plays in the E Street Band.
It was a sensational evening and though tired I was privileged to have been there.
