It's been a couple of years since I have been to the Pompidou Centre which I thought looked a bit tired but yesterday's visit blew my mind.......I know not difficult......
First up were the two galleries - Contemporary Collections from the 1960s which was sensational and Multiple Modernities 1905-1970 which was absolutely fascinating. For once there were walls which had space left on them. For too long French curators have overwhelmed our senses by putting too much up just because there was space. As Mies vdR said "Less is more!".
Anyway, do go; entry is always free on the first Sunday of every month and complete your day by booking the restaurant on the top or at least go and have a drink and see the view!!
Earlier, we stumbled across La Sainte Chapelle which is undergoing a major restoration programme. In a different sense it was the Pompidou of its day with sensational stained glass and a double floored chapel - one for the King's workers and one for his private and extended family!
