On Saturday, we drove down to Chichester where my parents used to live and where I played for a season at the local rugby club in 1971-72.
We went to see If Only which had been well reviewed by both the FT and The Observer. This is David Edgar's latest political play set in 2010 around the Election and 2014 when our country will be celebrating the 100 years since the start of WW1.
No sooner had we arrived and taken our seats (matinee) than (Sir) John and Beverley Armitt poked their head across my row! What were the chances of that? I'd only met them two weeks ago.....
The play itself didn't really hang together and work will need to be done on the second Act if it is to transfer.
There were half a dozen funny one liners but the acting of the three main characters was unconvincing. Perhaps, it was the hot afternoon.....
Afterwards, we walked on the Downs and then had supper at the Town House in Arundel.
Why are there so few quality places to eat in West Sussex?
