We went to see People at the National last night. It's been a sell out since it opened late last year. It seems anything written by Alan Bennett is now a sell out. People was amusing and witty but not quite Bennett at his best.
Jilly said that the audience was almost all over 60, if not 70, and I added that it was entirely white.
I thought the set was wonderful, the acting top drawer especially Frances de la Tour but the facilities
around the bars and restaurant were a joke.
